We’re all adults here. With that basic understanding, I’m just gonna go ahead and say it…… sometimes cooking or “health” are out of the question. Whether it be because of a bad day, a lazy weekend, or just a random craving, sometimes you just need some unnecessary yummy comfort food.
For the past four days, I’ve been CRAVING mac and cheese. Like, drive past Noodles and drool.. or drive to target to pick up some milk, but purposely forgetting it so that I don’t allow myself to whip up a box for the sole occupant of my living quarters.
Finally, I reached a weak spot. Whatever. It happened… and it was way worth it. So if you’re like me and finally just need to give into your craving, I recommend this hack…

Annie’s White Cheddar Shells
If you’ve had Annie’s Mac and cheese, you know how good it is. Any of the many variations are great, but my all time favorite is the white cheddar shells. Although it’s great on its own, there are various add ins to make it a little bit more “adult”. While I could have added some protein (i.e. chicken sausage) or veggies (broccoli or peas), I opted for one of my favorite flavors: pesto. In this case, too, one of the best pestos of all time that I’ve also been craving.
See above: Annie’s white shells with local to Madison Renaissance Farm sweet basil and sun-dried tomato pesto.
The creamy Mac with the flavorful pesto is an INSANE combination. Healthy? Not so much. Delicious? Of course.
Next time you need a more “adult” twist on a childhood favorite, definitely try spicing it up with a Mac hack.
