Homemade Pizza

I work at a pizza place (that I have yet to post about) so I am constantly around pizza. You’d think that endless hours around the food would turn me off to it, however, my time at Rhombus has done the complete opposite.

I actually got the job because my Mom is obsessed with the restaurant (located in downtown Fargo, Grand Forks, and Mentor, MN) and forced me to apply after a meal there when my family was visiting me at school. Thankfully, she did, because I love my job there.

But more to come about that in a seperate post, because I have had SO much Rhombus Guys pizza it’s stupid. One day when I feel like putting my countless bites of every single flavor to good use, I will give you a run down of the best pizza place in Fargo, ND.

Anyways, I previously stated that my Mom LOVES Rhombus Guys. Every time she comes to visit, we always go and get her the “Big Dogz Pizza.” Since I am always making random things and sending pictures to her, for Christmas this year, I made her a little recipe book so she can try all of the things that I always make for myself.

One of the things that I wanted to add to the book was a homemade version of Rhombus Guys’ “Big Dogz Pizza” (which includes pepperoni, sausage, jalapenos, and black olives).

So when one of my favorite Instagrammers, @katie_roeser, added a picture of a healthier, easier version of homemade pizza she likes to make, I had to add it to my Mom’s recipe book! (Note: If you like healthy posts, encouraging Instagrammers, crazy transformations, etc. follow Katie! Love her page and all of the things she shares. Her post of the pizza is probably one of the healthiest if you’re looking for a way to eat pizza and still be healthy.)

My Mom is always trying to find recipes that are easy and quick for her and my brother when they finally get home for the evening. Making their own personal pizzas on either a tortilla or a piece of Naan bread is so easy and sooooo good! We actually had both on hand (as well as a decent amount of random ingredients) when we decided to try to make these for ourselves, so we got to experiment and try a variety of things.

Top Two– Tortilla; Bottom One– Naan

So these three were made for me, my brother, and a friend that came over to eat with us. We started off with the base of either torilla or Naan bread, added some pizza sauce (I can’t remember the brand we used) and then topped our pizzas. We added some precooked chicken, jalapenos, pepperonis, onions, and black olives and tried some combinations. So delicous and SO easy. For cheese, we used cheddar and mozzerella, as well as a little bit of pepperjack. Honestly, the best thing about making these pizzas is that they’re pretty small so they can be personal. You can have each person make their own and you can be as creative as you’d like.

Our “Big Dogz” Pizza

This was a Naan pizza that we made for my Mom. With pepperoni, black olives, and jalapenos, this one was one of the best. The Naan was crisped up to perfection and the flavors blended together perfectly.

Cheese and Onion

We also made an additional pizza on Naan bread to compare the bases. This one was just cheese and onions and was so good. Simple, but who doesn’t love pizza?!

What You Need:

  1. Pizza crust— your choice: Naan bread (they come in individual slices or bigger pieces), tortillas, a premade crust, or a pack of “make your own” pizza mix
  2. Pizza sauce— get creative!! You can do traditional marinara from a jar, make your own, use pesto, olive oil, or even white sauce. Whatever you want!!
  3. Toppings!!!!!!!— again, whatever you want! Try veggies if you want to be healthier, extra cheese, meats if you want some extra flavaaaaa. It doesn’t matter! Whatever sounds good to the person eating it.

How To:

  1. Oven needs to be at 350. We couldn’t find a difference in temp for Naan/tortillas, but if you use a packet of mix to make your own pizza dough, you should obviously follow the instructions.
  2. Sauce and top your pizza.
  3. Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes, then broil for 5 minutes.

Note: Obviously make adjustments as you please, this is just the most basic list of instructions for a SUPER EASY and fast dinner. Yum.
