Georgetown Cupcakes

This post is one that I have been putting off (literally for months) at this point. On our trip to Boston, we were lucky enough to try out one of the most incredible little shops I have ever been into. Though I had watched DC Cupcakes millions of times, for whatever reason I didn’t make the connection that there was a Georgetown Cupcakes location in Boston until a little later into our vacation. Following many trips to Sweet Bakery (a smaller chain bakery that we found in various spots around Boston) I was pretty satisfied and unsure that anything could top my favorite treats in Beantown. However, I was extremely wrong– like 100% (or more). 😛 Don’t get me wrong, I would kill for a Sweet Bakery mini red velvet cupcake at ANY time, but Georgetown Cupcakes topped anything I have ever consumed. Honestly though, these cupcakes shut me down. I had no words at first for how much I enjoyed them. When you take a bite and are literally speechless, THAT is how you know something is good!!!!

With whipped cream cheese frosting that almost contained grains of sugar that melted in your mouth with every bite, I wouldn’t have even needed to eat the cake. But the cake was just as moist, if not more so. The two flavors that I chose were Red Velvet (described on their website as: “Georgetown Cupcake’s signature cupcake – classic red velvet cupcake with a vanilla cream cheese frosting topped with a red fondant heart”) and the Chocolate & Vanilla (described by Georgetown Cupcakes as a: “Valrhona chocolate cupcake with a vanilla cream cheese frosting topped with French chocolate sprinkles”). Not only was the cake and icing moist, but the decorations were to die for. The entire case was gorgeous with little fondant shapes, simple sprinkles, and hot fudge or caramel sprinkles. Sadly, we went at the end of the day, so we didn’t get to expereince a completely full case with all of the possible flavors at the beginning of the day.

The way that Georgetown Cupcakes runs their flavor menu is pretty cool. From my understanding, they have eighteen flavors DAILY and then rotate flavors throughout the week (with a new flavor for each day of the week) as well as up to EIGHT new flavors each month!!! For example– in the month of September they have flavors like Peanut Butter Fudge Cheesecake, Chocolate Ganache Surprise, Cookies & Creme Cheesecake, Rainbow, PB&J, Caramel Apple, Unicorn, and Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip (by the way, check out their Instagram page @georgetowncupcake for killer cupcake pictures of ALL of their flavors!)

Overall, I have to give this adorable little store a 100/10. Absolutely amazing. The outside was adorable, the boxes they used were pink and CUTE, the inside was comfortable, and the cupcakes were TO DIE FOR. Seriously. If I didn’t have to ship by the dozen, I would order myself a cupcake every single day. I honestly hope that every single person who enjoys sweets at all can give these marvelous goods a try. And just in case you can’t wait to take a vacation to try Georgetown Cupcakes, they WILL ship anywhere across the U.S. for a small fee! Pick a dozen (or more) of your favorite cupcakes and enjoy them in the comfort of your own home!
